Making it Easier to Comply with Virginia’s COVID-19 Emergency Standard
To address worker safety issues related to the COVID-19 pandemic, Virginia has developed the nation’s first enforceable emergency temporary standard (ETS) to control, prevent, and mitigate the spread of the virus in the workplace. Published by Virginia’s Department of Labor and Industry, these new safety requirements apply to virtually ALL EMPLOYERS in the state, and failure to comply could result in fines as high as $135,000.00 for repeat or willful violations. This means all employers in the state must create plans, training, materials, and procedures to comply.
To help employers implement the standard easily and inexpensively, General Counsel, P.C. in conjunction with Business Compliance, LLC, has developed the COVID-19 Virginia Emergency Standard Forms Generator. The VES Forms Generator helps determine which requirements employers need to meet, and generates the documents that must be submitted for compliance.
As stated by Governor Northam, “Keeping Virginians safe at work is not only a critical part of stopping the spread of this virus, it’s key to our economic recovery and it’s the right thing to do.” Ensure your compliance by reading the blog from WEA member, Merritt J. Green and General Counsel, P.C.
